Not at all. Just pointing out that taxes isnt THE reason players wont sign with us as some have claimed.
Its money and having the chance to win every year. That is why the Dodgers get the stars.

And a better market for endorsements. Which is more money.
Yep. Agreed on all.
I think the current situation in LA comes down to the owners willing to pay whatever it takes. Once they started signing the big names it became a place where other players wanted to go. The weather and proximity to the media and endorsments has always been there. What's changed is the way they pursue star players. They used to rely more on their farm system. Now they have both but the free agents are the main part of their team.
you are forgetting their gigantic TV contract, that will likely be bigger next go around after winning WS and dominating the s**t out of the division for a decade

if we get into the projected
SP
webb
verlander
ray
harrison
winn / black / birdsong
hicks as a RP or opener or long relief or spot starter
Walker / Doval late relief
then you have
cf lee
1b wade
ss adames
3b chapman
dh flores
rf yaz
lf ramos
c bailey
2b fitzgerald
i think the pitching it's not good enough at the back end of the rotation that is my concern.

I know that contract but there are some owners that might just pocket the money. The owners in LA are willing to put it back into the team.
I've always felt that people that buy a sports franchise should be willing to go all in on making the team a winner. They're wdalthy already so pocketing money from the team operations isn't necessary. If they break even or take a small loss they can afford it.

Almost spring training, and they've signed 2 players so far lol. One of them in his 40s. Gonna be another long, boring season

It looks like it going into the season but with baseball you never know. Players that struggled last year can bounce back and have career years. It's a strange game where performances can vary greatly from one year to another. Even the Dodgers with all their stars have one real WS in the last few years.

I was listening to KNBR yesterday and they were talking about a celebrity basketball game where Bonds and Rice are going to be coaching. They staerted talking about how lucky the Bay Area has been tohave so many star players in one relatively small area.
Bonds. The all time single season and lifetime HR king. The only memeber of the 500-500 club.
Rice. The all time TD leader
Curry The all time 3 point leader
Ricky Henderson. The all time and single season stolen base leader. Many consider him to be the best leadoff hitter ever.
Willie Mays. Generally considered to be the greatest all around player ever
Montana. The undisputed greatest QB of his era. Undefeated with 11 TDs and no INTs in 4 SB games.
Then we have a long list of players that grew up in the Bay Area and starred with other teams like Brady and Joe Morgan.
Bay Area fans have indeed been very fortunate.
