Thats still based on interpretation. Bonds never failed a test. He even had all charges dropped by the court. Tell people the history of the game and let them form their own opinions.

The HOF voters are all full of crap. They still vote PED users in. Its all about personal beef. They just use their vote as a weapon to get back at athletes they hated, and use PED's as the excuse to justify keeping them out.

You need to let that tired excuse for Bonds go. Steroids were illegal. Murder was also illegal and not listed in the rules. Everyone knows you can't commit murder and can't take steroids. If it was legal, they wouldn't have tried to hide it and mask piss tests. Among other things not listed in the rules at that time or now. He got massive. He was a HOFer before, but he never breaks the homerun record without them.

Now I agree he should be in but don't make excuses for him. I only say he should go in because the commissioner who oversaw this era got in. And a manager who let it happen got in.

We have had this tired argument many times.

As far as Rose goes, he should be in but the ban shouldn't have been lifted. The betting didn't skew his numbers.
The entire steroid era was tainted since we don't really know how many players were using, how often they shot up and how much it actually helped them. The HOF can just ignore all players from that period but they don't. They elect certain players and deny others. I already mentioned David Ortiz. He was strongly implicated and he got voted in.

There are some players that benefitted more than others. Bonds was a great player with or without steroids. Look at his numbers prior to the years that he was using steroids. He already had 450 HRs. Even if you believe he would have hit only half as many (which is unlikely) he would have still ended up with at least 600 HRs. That along with his 500 stolen bases puts him in a unique category.

The only harm steroid users did was to the record books which are somewhat of a joke anyway. The game didn't suffer. Fans loved that period. The battle between Sosa and McQuire wa sgreat TV. People never left their seat when Bonds was at bat.

Just catching up on the recent posts. Don't care if he died, f**k Pete Rose. Deserves to be left out of the Hall.

lol grumpy old boomer mindset.

Nah it's a dont like when someone breaks the cardinal rule of sports mindset.

Except the HOF isn't just for the player. Its a history museum for the fans. If you can't tell the story of the history of baseball without mentioning a player, he belongs in the HOF regardless of what he did wrong.

You can tell his story. There are plenty of references to Pete Rose in the HOF already.

lol all I ever said is that he should be in, which you just agreed with. I never said he didn't use PED's. My issue is with the voters who use their vote passive aggressively. Don't vote Bagwell, Piazza, Pudge, and Ortiz in and then tell me you left Bonds and Clemens out because of PED's. Its a BS lie.
Players reporting to camp this week. Seems like last season just ended.

this isn't the least bit shocking.

Love Bcraw, hes the best SS in club history but he's not good enough to warrant gatekeeping his number, especially from a guy like Verlander, good on him.

Only numbers that should be retired are 28, 40, 15, and 55. The rest are fair game.
