Eldridge has played one game after coming off the IR. He still doesn't kniw how to ply first base well enough. His hitting progress would suffer as well since there is usually a huge drop when players reach the big league livel. Let the guy learn to play at least well enough that he won't be costing games with errors at first.

You're missing the point. He can't learn to play first base if he's a DH and they want him to be the everyday first baseman. There's also no guarantee that he can hit big league pitching at this point. Let's not rush him and have to end up sending him back down. He's still only 20. He's the best LH hitting prospect they've had in years so they can't afford to mess him up.
Posey is on KNBR as I type this. He just said Eldrige is a long ways away from the big leagues and needs a lot of work on defense and polishing his hitting.

Harper was 19 when called up. Not saying Eldridge should be called up, I am just saying its about how he performs, not how old he is.
