Just read that Patrick Bailey has 32 hits since August 1st, 2024.
I dont care how good he is defensively. If this doesnt majorly improve, he needs to be replaced. Especially because his biggest skill (receiving and stealing strikes), is going to be an obsolete skill at some point.

posey left the door open for bryce. he said something along the lines of let him beat the door down. i don't expect to see him up soon. maybe sept callup. i would like to see him get some real games at the AA and AAA levels. right now he's played only about 10 games at each level. that's not a lot of games. you run into a lot of players going thru the minors system, you learn from those guys around you, you get to receive instruction also from the managers and positional coaches each stop along the way. it's a process and i see no reason to fast track it. we get 6 years of team control, regardless, and that's based on MLB service time. the goal is you want him to come up and stay up. you also want him to come up and play everyday. no sense him to come up and watch games. he needs to play. we have two vets at 1B and ppl want to dump on wade, it's early season and he's in a contract year. so is flores. the organization chart at 1b is wide open for next season. but not this season.

It's a very fair point - he's not adjusted to his scouting report. I don't want to hear that he's wearing down in the second half, what's his excuse now that its the start of the season?

He got a late start to the season so I don't expect to see him. But if he's killing it with power all year, a Sept call up would be needed. And if he does well, he could be on the playoff roster. I rather see a rotation of Wilmer/Eldridge at 1B/Dh if Wade plans on hitting .098 all year.
But my point is let the player's play decide when he gets called up, not data points that don't matter. Contracts and how they perform are all that matter.
But if he doesn't get called up and Wade continues to play like this, I hope the giants have a plan.

I just don't see him getting called up this year before September. His defense isn't just below average. It's terrible. In 100 games at first base last season he committed 25 errors. That would have ranked him dead last compared to any other 1st baseman in the majors.
He may eventually become a decent (not great) 1st baseman. Part of the blame is on his HS coach. He didn't play hm at 1st on the days he didn't pitch so he never got the reps. Obviuosly Wade isn't cutting it at the plate this season but he's made several good plays in the field with scoops of low throws and catches preventing balls from getting through for hits.
Baseball is more than just hitting. In fact I enjoy watching great defense better than offense. Hits all look about the same. HRs all look alike unless you get one of those rare 470 foot shots. Defense is often more fun to watch and can save a lot of games. The throw that Yaz made last night to nail the runner at 3rd was a thing of beauty. Even weak hitting Koss made a great play at 2nd.

Yep. I am so tired of hearing people claim that the way we have managed some of our prospects has "ruined them." I am so tired of hearing "we cant rush a prospect, because we will 'ruin.'"
If a player is good, he is going to be good. This isnt the NFL where you can David Carr a QB because of an offensive line.
Harper was a prodigy that was good offensively and defensively. Mays and Mantle came up at 18 but they were great all around. Eldridge needs tme to become a decent fielder or he'll end up being just a DH. The Giants need a good power hitting 1st baseman so they're wiling to wait for their best prospect to learn the position.
Face it guys. This team isn't likely to go to the world series this season so it's not like Wade is going to prevent it.

He has statistically been our best catcher this season.

that isn't saying much
Also, two on no outs and Champman SOs, Ramos flies out, Wade grounds out. No runs.
