Farhan did a great job getting pitching talent on the cheap. I think the Giants are going to sign some big time hitters in the off season when they have money to spend.

Doval!

That 100 mph heat reminds me of Trevor Hoffman.

Missed it ! :( how'd he look

Struck out 2 in his only inning and his stuff looked electric and in control.

saw a clip in Twitter. 3 straight strikes in his first batter. Crazy

and he never pitched about A ball !? That's absurd

Some things never change lol. I take last season off from watching Giants games, come back this year and see that the Marlins still own the Giants. Would love to see the overall record against the Marlins in the last 20 years. Or at least the last 10 for sure

Thanks. I seent it on baseball almanac but was too lazy to check every season. It's not as bad as I thought, but it just always seems like they lose to them a lot

Ever since that NLDS series when we had the best record in baseball and they beat us 3-1 I've disliked them. Somehow never forgot that.

Plus Scott Cousins.

I remember after the injury either Sabean or Bochy made some comments about how this would be like his claim to fame lol and it was all downhill from there for him...they were right haha.

Sabean said "I wouldn't care if he never played another game".
That was a classic Giants torture W.
Stinks Moronta got hurt again, but Doval looks promising!
What's the expectations this year?

.500; 3rd in the division; prepping for the future. But a scrappy team.

To be around .500

Most people in here have higher expectations than I. And the Giants have started off better than any of us could have expected. I had the Giants around a 70 win team. Most have them around an 81.

Probably because they were around .500 last year. A short season doesn't quite reflect how things would've balanced out over time, but they got better this offseason with some new additions plus getting Posey back. .500 isn't unrealistic, but it wouldn't shock me if they finished with 70 wins either. Next year when we have money to spend and more prospects are ready we will make a nice jump.

As a kid, I was a hardcore baseball fan... as an adult, I catch an inning or two if I'm bored. Some teams have pulled me in though, especially if we have good pitching. I used to never miss a Schmidt start, for example. Of course the legend Timmy was must watch, as was that entire staff

From a casual fan PoV, this team doesn't seem to have any guys that move the needle... position player, or pitcher. Is there someone I'm missing?

I had them at 70 wins before the season. But watching them play, I can see .500. They are scrappy plus the reasons you indicated. Of course, they could be hovering around .500 and trade someone at the deadline and end up well below .500.

I'm with you RN. I think that this team, while scrappy and has that fight in them, will eventually succumb to the lack of overall talent on the team.

99, I know we hovered around .500 last season, but I still think that has to do with the fact that the length of the season didnt offer enough time for things to right themselves.
