The giants average about 3 runs a game, 51 total, lowest in the league. #hellahomeruns. Sooner or later if they don't figure out how to score, no way this pitching staff can continue to hold teams to 2.8 runs per game.

Eh. They were a good offensive team last year. They were top 5 in NL in many categories , 5th in runs...

You got guys like Dickerson, Dubon, Yaz, Solano who aren't hitting right now. It's only a matter of time until this offense gets going.

The pitching may take a dip. Hopefully, Cueto gets back soon.

You really need to stop drawing conclusions from a 60 game season.

its mind bottling. I get that he is always optimistic, but they were a .485 team last year, not .500. And had that been a whole 162 game season, that would have been a f**k load of losses.

The bottom line is they scored 51 runs to date. Lowest in the league. Its cool they are winning, but there isnt an offensive star on the team. A bunch of guys that can be scrappy, but if Yaz doesnt have a great season, I think they will finish near the bottom in offensive categories.

And there is no way this pitching staff continues at this pace.
You guys are telling me to stop drawing conclusions after a 60 games season and here you are declaring the offense dead after 16 games lol

Those two posts from RN are the closest you will get to "declaring the offense is dead" and they arent really close at all. You wont find posts from me indicating the offense is dead either. Take a breath and relax man. We can enjoy what has happened so far at the same time as being concerned that this isnt a sustainable way to win games. Doesnt have to be one or the other.

The pitching is over performing, the offense is under performing. Based on last year, the level of offensive talent on this team (no super stars, but guys with some decent track records), the new additions... I think it's a reasonable expectation that we see a correction in the opposite direction. Improved offense, dip in pitching, especially with Cueto out. How far we dip in pitching will be the major question to be answered and a big indicator in our success this year.

You're saying conclusions from last year are irrelevant because 60 games, sure that is a small sample size vs 162 but there is still useful info in those 60 games. You think Farhan is dismissing last year? I don't. It is what it is.

For example, I think Yaz proved that 2019 wasn't a fluke and I think that Slater at least he proved when healthy, he can mash LHP. I am not basing my opinions on last year alone but I don't dismiss it completely either.

Yep. I like what I see from the Giants pitching prospects. I knew the team had sluggers coming up through the minors in Ramos and Bart, but it's pitching that wins titles in MLB. I know the young guns probably won't be up this season, but I'm hoping we start to see a steady stream of them by late next season. I still consider the COVID year to be a "do over" for all of baseball. That gives Zaidi another year to work his GM magic. But, so far, I like what he's doing. I hope it's just the start of something great. I'd love to see another WS title in my lifetime.
