I think he surprises folks and gives us a discount.

Only if his wife's forces him lol

The guy who got screwed over with his service time by his previous club, who has never been a free agent before and never had his first big contract in the Major Leagues is going to give us a discount?

I'd bet a lot of money he doesnt.

you might not remember but he clearly said he wanted to come here if he was leaving the Cubs. Time will tell if he meant that as a rental or as a long-term piece. You all forget we also have Cueto's money coming off the books as well.

Bryant isn't coming back. Its just not going to happen. Time to move on and look at the other free agents.

How you figure? You work with Farhan? Are you Bryant's agent?

Because he's going to get a massive contract that he's not worth anymore, and Farhan doesn't overpay. This is Bryant's chance to get a massive contract, and hes not settling for what the Giants will budget him at. Doesn't matter how much he liked it here. He didn't make enough of an impact on the team in 2021 to justify the money he's going to command.
Hard pass on Bryant. If you're gonna splurge - get a young player who is in his prime and improving. I'll again say go hardddd after Carlos Correa. Yes - he's SS and we have Craw but Craw is 35 and Correa can play at 3B. Hopefully in 2 years - we have our top prospect graduating to majors at SS and take over Craw.

With Belt, Craw, Correa, and combo of Wilmar/Salano at 2B will give us a pretty damn good infield.

There isn't a lot in FA when it comes to OFs - hopefully Romos comes in and takes a spot.

Bring back Gausman and we need to upgrade at least 1 starter. Gotta find someone who can do that in FA.

Sign Correa to play 3B when he's never played there with Crawford on contract for two years, Luciano waiting in the wings and Longoria for another couple years. How does that make sense?
Trippin if you don't want Bryant, give me KB all day.

Dude loves SF, they will bring him back.

Its not about wanting him. It's about the money. He's going to get 200-250 mil. Hes not that type of player anymore. Its terrible value, and we'd be hating that contract 2-3 years from now.

The outfield needs two new starters, the yaz experiment might be over

Honestly, if I was Bryant, I wouldnt be good with not having a position either. If I am a player with his resume, I would rather have a position with one backup spot, then have to show up to the stadium every day wondering which of the 5 possible positions I am assigned to play that day.

To expand on this, I am also not sure its the best way to manage a team. Look at what just happened in the NLCS. Lux dropped a fly ball because he is playing out of position. I'm ok with platoons if you need to do it, but I am not ok with a star not having a position. I doubt Bryant finds it ideal either.

I don't think you're going to talk Kapler out of position flexibility. He seems to value that pretty highly. Bryant was absolute garbage at 3B this year, so he's probably going to have to play OF exclusively, and that comes with a little moving around.

You are assuming that Correa would even be open to a position change. Why would a guy as young as he is move from SS when you know darn well that there will be plenty of suitors who want him there. He is going to get a huge contract and play SS for some team next year.
Just watched Minter blow Bellinger away with a 97 mph fastball up in the zone. Made me happy and sad
Damn. Bellinger just got blown away by a 97 mph high fastball. Who woulda have thunk it?

Position flexibility is fine. My comment is more from the player's POV than the manager's. I get why a manager would want players to play all over the field. What I dont get is why a player who almost exclusively played 2 positions would want to play 5. Especially All Star level players.
