Bellinger just crushed a fastball up above the zone for a 3 run homer. Apparently he can hit that pitch.

Yeah. 101 and 95 mph are the same thing.

Sure he can occasionally hit one out as hard as he swings. But he hit .150 on fastballs this year with a slugging average of .326. In other words, he SUCKED against fastballs. And that is against all fastballs. Probably about .050 on 100 mph fastballs
Overmanaging strikes again.
Braves choke every year. No reason this should be any different

Doval wasn't throwing pinpoint 101 mph fastballs that night. In a perfect world he would have been, and then they probably call that pitch.

Once again, it has nothing to do with pinpointing a fastball. Just give him a different look. Waste a pitch. Show him something different. I cant believe you are still defending this 99.

I still can't believe you're pretending to know who was behind throwing all sliders to Bellinger, and why. Bellinger has been red hot all postseason now. Hes not the same automatic out he was all regular season. Doval didn't have his fastball that night, so its obvious why they were avoiding it against a hot hitter. The HR tonight was 96, like 10 inches above the top of the zone. If he's catching up to that, hes not an easy out with a fastball up.
damn braves lost? wtf

Did you see him hit a fastball around his shoulders for a HR to tie the game?

What are you talking about saying that he didnt have his fastball. Because he hit Justin Turner? LOL He was throwing 100+. I think you are in the vast minority 99.

Sure. Jackson doesnt have a 100+ mph fastball either. Bellinger's stats against breaking balls was better than it was against fastballs all year. Like I said, he basically sucked against fastballs all year. It doesnt mean that he will never hit a homerun against one. But its more likely he will hit a slider especially when he sees it over and over in the same at bat

Honestly, if I was Bryant, I wouldnt be good with not having a position either. If I am a player with his resume, I would rather have a position with one backup spot, then have to show up to the stadium every day wondering which of the 5 possible positions I am assigned to play that day.

To expand on this, I am also not sure its the best way to manage a team. Look at what just happened in the NLCS. Lux dropped a fly ball because he is playing out of position. I'm ok with platoons if you need to do it, but I am not ok with a star not having a position. I doubt Bryant finds it ideal either.

Lux has played exclusively in the infield mainly at 2nd and doesn't have nowhere near the experience in the outfield and they only switched positions for him obviously because they have Seager and Turner but they want his bat in the lineup. He's most likely going back to 2nd with Turner going to SS next year. Bryant has played multiple positions from his early days as a Cub. 2 completely different circumstances.
