"In addition to his offensive promise, Luciano also offers plus arm strength, a high baseball IQ and good actions at shortstop. There's still some question as to whether he can remain at short because he has fringy speed and could lose a step as he gets more physical, but the worst-case scenario is that he shifts to third base or right field. He has the tools to be a solid defender at either spot and his bat makes him a potential superstar anywhere he plays."

All I am saying is - talent like Correa who are entering their prime are not available every year in FA. At least you go at him. It will be tough to outbid Yankees but he may prefer the West Coast over East Coast. Who knows? I think it will be money well spent on a player like him. Our books are going to be clean after next season. We can go and splurge in the FA. Of course add pitching - but adding a bat like Correa to this lineup will be such a massive boost.
The Giants currently have a SS that was an MVP candidate this year, and have Luciano in the wings, who might be the best prospect in baseball this time next year. They aren't going to drop 300 mil on Correa. If Luciano needs to move to 3B or OF in the future, so be it, but they're not going to give out the biggest contract in franchise history to a SS right now. Correa is going to get franchise cornerstone money, and hes a 25 hr, 85 rbi, .275 avg type guy. They need to spend that money on the areas that need more help, like pitching.
Let's see how he fares in Eugene and Richmond. It's not a given he'll hit well at either level.
He'll be fine. Hes a rare talent. Last year he hit a 119 mph HR. To put that in perspective, only 3 Major League HR have ever been measured with a faster exit velocity, hit by Stanton and Judge.
You should also put in perspective that happened in the Arizona Instructional League. There are a bunch of raw arms in that league. Hitting well in Eugene and Richmond (Pitcher Parks)will be way more challenging.
He hit the HR off the Rockies number 2 prospect. Plus its not like anyone can just hit a 119 mph HR if the pitcher sucks. At this point he's established enough as a prospect that it would surprise me if he fizzled out in AA. Bat speed like that is rare.
It wouldn't surprise me either way. Besides Bart most of our top hitting prospects have fizzled out in Richmond.
