Going to miss Buster for sure. I dont think he will make the HOF but he will go down as the greatest Giants catcher ever. Hard to believe how time flies. Seems like yesterday that he was a rookie leading the team to their first WS title in SF.

lol you honestly don't think he's making the HOF?? I think he's a lock. Best catcher of his era. Elite at every aspect of the position. MVP. Key factor in 3 World Series titles. World class human being. I can't imagine a scenario where he isn't elected.

Yea I think being as great as he has been defensively and they way he's handled pitching staffs will have to factor into this. Stats cannot tell the whole story of his impact and I hope voters can understand that.

Wow.... Shocking. Now not trading Bart makes perfect sense. Crazy. One of the GOAT Giants.

GOAT Bay Sports figures as well.

💯
I still remember when I was at work watching that playoff game on the radio vs the Reds when he hit that bomb and made Latos throw a hissy fit. Awesome.

I think Buster Posey will make the Hall of Fame. However, if you get a group of voters who are overly focused on statistics, it may take him a while. Considering his accomplishments and awards/accolades, he should get in. But theres always a chance people look at his stats and vote no.

IMO certain players define a generation, and are already in the voters heads as a HOF type guy. Posey was THE guy for 3 WS title teams, and a perennial All-Star at C. He was the box the baseball fan kind of automatically checked on the All-Star ballot for NL catcher without really looking into the numbers.

I think when his name hits the ballot in 5 years the voters will remember "3 rings, MVP, All-Star regular", and the last memory of him was being that guy in 2021. He ended as good as he started. I don't think they will feel a ton of need to dig into the numbers and talk themselves out of it. He feels like a no-brainer legacy type guy where the numbers wont need to be a tiebreaker.

I get that you think that. I think that too. All I am saying is not everyone thinks that way.

Happy Trails, Buster.

Now do his statistics. We all think he should be a HOFer. All I am saying is his case isnt as big of a layup as a lot of people in here believe it is.

Probably my favorite Buster memory.

Right, but I'm saying enough voters won't think that way that he will get in pretty easily. I think the voters that will nitpick his stats will be in the large minority.

I just dont think he is a lock and seriously doubt he makes it in his first year. Too many voters go by stats and years played. Do I think he should? Of course. But I wouldnt bet a lot on it

Basically a 10 year career. A lot of voters will judge that too. Thats why one of my all time favorite non-Giants, Andruw Jones, is not a Hall of Famer.

Thats all I'm saying. There will be lots of voters that will go by games played and overall stats. I absolutely think Buster should make the HOF. I just question the voters

Catchers are judged differently, their careers simply don't last long
