2024 San Francisco Giants Season Thread

Regardless, he 100% deserved it this year. Don't think ANYBODY saw the season the Giants had coming.

I didn't care for the hire at first. I will gladly admit it. I was very concerned with the way he managed in Philly (poor use of bullpen, platooning a lot, seemingly managing by a statsheet, etc.). He did a phenomenal job with our team. He put out players in the best position to win and was impressive all year.

I still question if his style would work with a team stacked with talent, or if it might deter big name hitters from signing here. But overall, he has earned the benefit of the doubt. This was one hell of a season.

Now Zaidi needs to help him out and sign position players who wont choke and go hitless in the playoffs.

This. What I saw in Philly, I didn't care for. And admit I was against the hire from the start. But he did a fantastic job (obviously). There are a couple of things this team does consistently that I don't care for but that will happen with any manager.
If Belt and Gausman want 3 or 4 year deals I say let them both walk.

I dont know that I want to see either of them walk. As much as I dump on Belt at times, we need his veteran leadership. I'd like to see us give Belt the same sort of deal that we gave Crawford, but wouldnt be upset at 3 years. Id also like to see us give Gausman a 3 year deal, as everything I have read predicts him getting 5 somewhere.

We cant afford to lose Belt now.

Not surprised. A four year deal for Belt was never happening.

Sweet. It was going to get boring in the thread if he left.

Surprised he took it. Coming off a career year I thought he'd try and get his last multi-year deal now.
I get why teams give QOs so they don't lose the player for nothing, but I really wish Belt didn't have that option so we could sign him to a multi year deal, just like we should have with Gausman last year. More years, less annual money.

Another injury plagued year, nobody was offering a multi year deal. Works out great for the giants
