Those brown nosers will never be let go. They might be the most annoying people in sports radio though.

Tough to say what is really going on. It continues a troubling trend, however. Mark Willard was let go as the night host at KNBR in October. Now, it's Larry and Rod Brooks. That makes three full-time on air hosts to be let go in less than six months. That's just on-air hosts. Who knows how many have been let go that filled behind-the-scenes roles at that station.

Why the cuts? Why these people? I worked in radio for many years and could say something flip like "that's radio." Part of it would be true. I never felt like was my job was safe when I worked in radio as a DJ and newsman. I felt like I could be let go at anytime, and nearly was at one point. That's just the way the radio industry works. At my very first radio job I was told by numerous co-workers that "you aren't very good unless you've been fired." That was, and still is, the industry. I saw a lot of great and talented people that I worked with get canned for one reason or another during my years in this business. It's one reason why I chose to leave the business in 1999. I just got tired of watching people around me, very talented people who I liked very much, get let go.

I have read some reports online that claim KNBR's ratings are down. I have absolutely no idea if this is true or not. I don't really think anyone does. Those numbers are highly confidential. While you might see reports of overall ratings, what's missing in those reports is the key target demographic, or the audience that the station is targeted towards. My guess, for KNBR at least, is that audience is men between the ages of 25-54. But that's just a guess on my part and nothing more.

I do have some THEORIES as to why these cuts have taken place. But they have absolutely no basis in fact. They are just theories. So, I'll keep those theories to myself.

My hope is that all three of these guys land on their feet and maybe come back to KNBR someday. We'll see. Time will tell.

I didn't even notice Willard was gone. Its been 4 months?? Guess thats why he got canned..

Nope. They will have a job as long as they want. Blows my mind that people enjoy them.

man, no matter what season it is after baseball has ended THEY ALWAYS FIND WAYS TO INCORPORATE THE GIANTS into it, it's so fvcking annoying!!

Think I heard them talking about the warriors and the job bob meyers has done with the bench and they were both like, "just like Farhan was able to find all these excellent role players for the giants, they both are masterminds" granted I'm sure they exhasuted the job Farhan did during the season last year, come on man, you talking about the warriors, no need to incorporate the giants into this.

And KNBR wonders why the Warriors left.

They're phony schmoozers. Always blabbing about these old pop culture references that only 50-60 year olds know and acting like the majority of the listening audience cares.

I remember the moment when the Warriors said fvck KNBR, Warriors in the playoffs and KNBR plays the game on 1050 and Giants April Regular Season game on 680, 1050 quality always sucked lol smh

I am not sure who everyone is, but rod brooks i did not mind listening too. Mr T(? Former basketball?) Was okay.
But everytime i turned on KNBR it was (i think murph and mac) and i can not stand them. If you are going to interrupt phone in people for 10 mins, just don't take the phone ins.

Anyways i used to listen to it all the time, now i can only tolerate a giants game and post game. Like 15m before and 30m after. And i know i am not the only one.

I know KNBR's station manager personally and he told me that the Warriors wouldnt even let them have a chance to negotiate a new contract. They were just done.

Also, I am 99% sure the moment you are speaking on was that KNBR prioritized a Giants SPRING TRAINING game over a Warriors playoff game. I totally understand why the Warriors had enough.

No shift starting 2023? Dumb.

I hated but loved the insane shift for bonds

I'm shocked by that, I thought the league was going that way. Especially our team.
