2024 San Francisco Giants Season Thread

2010 rolled into 2011. After the odd year loss, I created a new one in 2012 and the giants won the f**king ship again. And we thought we found magic. But it didn't work in 2013 but it did work in 2014 when the giants shocked the world again. And after that, we thought we'd struck magic of even years and new threads.

if I didn't make a new one every year, this thread would be f**king massive. Lol

Tsuyoshi Shinjo is the Ham Fighters manager now, and entered the stadium on a hovercraft. lol
It's that time.
GARCE'S 2022 BOLD PREDICTIONS

***Some people need a reminder but a BOLD prediction is meant to be fun, maybe unlikely but not completely out of the realm of possibility.
A stance that likely goes against common narratives.***

First, let's revisit last year.

GARCE'S 2021 BOLD PREDICTIONS

RECORD - 85-77
WILD CARD BIRTH

BREAKOUT HITTER - AUSTIN SLATER
.290, 15 HRS 15 SBS

BREAKOUT PITCHER - KEVIN GAUSMAN
15 WINS, 3.2 ERA, 190KS

OFFENSE MVP - EVAN LONGORIA
.270, 25 HRs, 80 RBI

BRANDON BELT FINALLY WINS A GG

YAZSTREMSKI MAKES THE ALLSTAR GAME

No one could have predicted a 107 season, last year was one of the most fun and memorable season I've ever seen without winning a title. I'm very excited and feel very fortunate to be a fan of this talented front office and management team. The anti-thesis of the Oakland A's, an absolute joke of a franchise.

I feel like Longoria could have been MVP (of our team) if he didn't get hurt, he was off to a decent start. I think it's pretty obvious Buster Posey's incredible year proved to be that. An awesome comeback, sad to see him not our team anymore. Austin Slater... that didn't work out. Kevin Guasman actually exceeded the prediction. An all-star, 2.97 ERA and 227 Ks. Sad to see him go. Although he had a great year, I think we all saw the flaws in his game. Great season though. Goldschit won the GG but I think Belt could have had a chance if he didn't get hurt. Also a candidate for team MVP.

GARCE'S 2022 BOLD PREDICTIONS

RECORD - 95-67 - 1ST PLACE NL WEST

BREAKOUT HITTER - MAURICIO DUBON
.285 BA, 12 HRs, 60 RBI, 15 SBs

He hit .330 in AAA last year, we will rely on him early due to injuries and I think he capitalizes. He started slow last year and never got it going but did well in his time in Sac.

BREAKOUT PITCHER - TYLER BEEDE
140 IP, 12 WINS, 3.4 ERA, 150 Ks

Coming off Tommy John, now two years under the player development in this regime...Yung Beeda FINALLY puts together his potential and some value for this organization.

PITCHER MVP - ALEX COBB
170 IP, 14 WINS, 3.15 ERA, 170KS

Dude is hitting 97 MPH...coming off a season where he was at his highest K/9 in his career, this staff gets the most out of him and he becomes an anchor in this rotation.

OFFENSE MVP - BRANDON BELT
.275 BA, 32 HRS, 85 RBIs and Gold Glove

What are your bold predictions?

*** Warning *** Bold prediction ***

I would love a Cy Young we have two candidates Webb & Rodon. DeGrom and Scherzer already seem like walking injuries. Gonna come right out and say it. SF Giants will get the Cy Young.

this thread has 107 wins and a 1st Round Loss to the Dodgers, 2022, even year, start a new thread

its not really bold. ESPN's power rankings right now have the giants write up and two different people said Webb could win the CY.

What's bold is predicting Beede and Dubon to be breakout players. Its more likely that both will finish the season with different organizations.

I ignore it. Garce is 100% homer. Every giants player is on the verge of being MVP. Most of the players he falls in love with pre-season end up in the minors and never heard from again.
watching some preseason beisbol while working. Crawdog just crushed one. Maybe another year of power hitting craw

What are your bold predictions?

Nice predictions Garce! I like them all!

My BOLD PREDICTION: Both Joey Bart and Heliot Ramos, who is called up during the summer, make big impacts at the plate down the stretch in driving the Giants to an NL West Title.

Longo, Wade, and now Yaz possibly out.

Ugh

Any FAs still out there?

Don't worry, the Giants are going to be "pretty aggressive" in free agency

you miss Evans don't you.

No, not at all. Just waiting for the offseason where we actually make some major FA signings like we always get our hopes up for every year. Especially when we always hear "this guy's salary will be coming off the books this year, that guy's salaries will be coming off the books, the stadium is paid off," "The Giants have tons of $$ to spend" etc. etc.

Not unhappy with the current front office group at all, just hoping they make some major moves within the next couple offseasons.

at the time were you happy with the KB trade?
Did you wish we gave Gausman 5 years also?
They are setting us up for long-term sucess both financially and with an elite farm. If you can't see that, you need to pay closer attention.

Lol I like how you're just assuming my thoughts and feelings about this team. Did you not read the part where I said "Not unhappy with the current front office group at all" ?? I am well aware that our farm system has improved drastically since they took over. I am also well aware that the Giants have $$$.

To answer your questions: I was happy with the KB trade. And I am glad they DID NOT give Gausman a big contract. After the All Star break last year he was not very effective and seemed like the rest of the league had him completely figured out.

I just got my hopes up a bit I guess when they said they were gonna be aggressive in FA this offseason.

Im still shocked that Francisco Peguero didn't win any MVP's.
