I feel like garce is saying 99 said Ohtani wouldn't be able to hit in the majors, and I don't think that's what I remember. What I remember was 99 questioning if a player could be successful as a pitcher and a hitter in pro-baseball. Like he should concentrate on one or the other. And if he could hold up over a full season doing so.
I could be wrong but that's what I remember. And if so, that is completely different than saying he cannot hit.
