Damn, Joc has asked to be traded !

Its early but I would have to disagree on that. I know Joc is off to a hot start but I would take Posey and Bryant over him in our lineup any day. The pitching is the same in the pen and very close in the rotation. I still think 90 wins would be a strong season for this team and get them a wild card. They wont come close to last year.

You're probably right with Posey being the main reason. I like the SP possibly better this year though.

Same. I think 90+ wins is the smart play and that is still a hell of a season. And in the playoffs on WC. I think the defense and hitting isn't as good as last year, but I do think the pitching is better. Crawford had an amazing year last year. I doubt he duplicates that...though I think Belt's numbers will be better this year. Posey was amazing. Bart and Casali won't come close to that together. Bryant added pop last year and a little fear/protection in the lineup for the other guys. I don't think Ruf comes close to his season last year either.

When Longoria comes back, the team gets better defensively. And I am fine with an Estrada/LaStella 2nd base. But rotating DH and the other OF spot through Flores, Ruf, Duggar, Slater, etc isn't exactly scary.

C Bart/Casali
1B Belt
2B Estrada/LaStella
SS Crawford
3B Longoria
LF Wade
CF Pederson
RF Yaz
DH Ruf/Flores

With their pithing, that squad can compete against anyone. I wish they could improve the DH spot and Bart could hit more consistently. Right now there is just too many guys off to a slow start that hopefully improves.

Ruf .164
Duggar .194
Bart .171
Casali .174
Dubon .150
Slater .214
Yaz goes on DL with COVID.

Joc starts launching bombs.

The heckler(s) yelled "you f'n juicer" 12 seconds into that 2nd clip. Though it does sound like the heckler said something anti-semitic.

So far... so good

Carlos Rodon will be the best signing of last offseason's free-agent class

David Schoenfield: A record 11 free agents signed contracts of at least $100 million this offseason, but the best signing will be Carlos Rodon. Through three starts, the left-hander has allowed two runs in 17 innings, with a blistering 29 strikeouts and just eight hits allowed. Most importantly, his velocity, which tailed off in the second half last season in his return from Tommy John surgery, is back at full volume, averaging 96.4 mph. The Giants worked wonders with veteran starters last season, and they've had Rodon scrap his changeup (batters hit .367 off it in 2021) and focus on his fastball-slider combo. His two-year deal already looks like a bargain, and even if he opts out after 2022, the Giants will gladly take a Cy Young-caliber season.

OK. This has taken place far too many times for it to be labeled as "coincidence" or "good luck."

At the start of last season, I expected the Giants to finish last. Farhan was rebuilding the roster. I expected 3-4 seasons of losing with young kids. That is how the model worked, right?

While many fans wanted Farhan to sign a big-name free agent bat, he responded by picking up Lamont Wade.

The collective reaction in here, I remember clearly, was Lamont WHO? "Never heard of the guy!"

Lamont calmly comes in and proclaims: "That's Lamont Wade, JUNIOR! JACK!"

We are seeing the same story play out with Luis Gonzalez. "Never heard of the guy!" Well, we know who he is now.

Question here is: Who on the Giants is finding and identifying these guys? How do they do it? How does 90-percent of baseball NOT pay any attention to these young players, but the Giants do?

I don't get it. I have never witnessed a team operate like this before. There must be some kind of method to this madness because it's working.

An 8-3 road trip? IN THE BRUTAL EAST? Exquezze me? That is UNHEARD of. Yet, it just happened.

Anyone got any answers?

Good question.

This is clearly a departure from Sabean offseason tactics. That era worked almost in spite of the FA signings. What worked was having Bochy and homegrowing flat out aces, Lincecum, Cain and Bum plus drafting Posey. In the end the dramatic overpay signings like Renteria and Zito had their postseason moments which almost if not did in fact justify the contracts.

Now we see dramatic improvement with pitchers we bring in and our hitters on roster. For example on Rodon they dropped his changeup which was getting hit at a .367 clip last season.

Approach at the plate is make everything the pitcher does difficult. Every player has long ball potential and is working the count in every AB.

The club refuses to put themselves in a position where they have any "bad" contracts. Every dollar is used to buy as many wins as we can. I think the team wants to spend but doesn't view the opportunity cost of Trevor Story for 6 years $140 million as the optimal way to allocate dollars. They are correct. If you have a lot of pitching and can catch a lot of barrels and get on base you can and will win they are proving it. I think they are micromanaging every little thing very well like how to approach each hitter and plate discipline it's not just a go up there and do your thing type operation.
This has to be one of our best road trips ever, right? East coast, 11 games in 11 days (one doubleheader), 4 cities. 8-3 record.

Capped it off with a bullpen game vs the reigning Cy Young award winner and getting the W. This team is somethin' else.

99 back to back Ks to make up for Barts throw. Sign Rodon to 82 years now

Teams are going to start running all over Bart. His accuracy throwing to 2nd is terrible.
Flores!
This team tho 😍
