Giving the umps microphones to announce the calls is one of the dumbest things ever. There is literally no need for them to speak. Baseball is pretty black and white with explaining results. Safe sign, out sign.

I was talking about this with my brother like a week ago. Most baseball broadcasters are awful. There are like 10 HOF type guys and the rest are horrible. Its like most teams hire guys with a good voice, but they have no idea how to fill all the air time.

My local Nats fan friends think they're pretty good. I'm like…no. But yeah, his voice is good but the s**t he's says and the way he gets overly excited is silly. The color guy to complement used to be FP Santangelo if you remember him. Not sure if it's still him or not. He wasn't good really either.

FP got accused of "sexual misconduct" last year by an unidentified female, and the Nats chose not to renew his contract. He was guest hosting on KNBR in the offseason. Not sure where he is now. He still hasn't followed through with that Giants tattoo after the 2010
