Smashed that in upper corner. Not even Courtois is saving that.

Raphinha & Dembele BOTH?!?!? Wow! Lewandowski on the way and still trying to upgrade CB with Kounde!

Barca's attack will be something. They're 2 deep at every attacking position.

Thank you Leeds - excellent negotiation.

Won't mind selling Frankie now if we can get Silva from ManCity.

Joking aside - my concern is more with - don't have another situation like Messi last year. That was embarrassing.

Don't think solvency is a concern for me. A US multi-billion $ company isn't gonna buy rights for 25 years for 500m upfront without scrutinizing every single line in the books. To me - that's just great negotiation by Bayern bc Barca under Laporte is offering transfer fees to be paid over 3 years.

Barca was no 4 in revenue last year. About 60M less than no 1 - ManCity ($740m). Spotify stadium naming rights kick in this year @ 70M/yr. alone will put Barca at no1. They lost about $25M in merchandise sale when Messi left. They'll gain that back w/ Lewy. Early exists in every single competition cost millions in lost revenue as well.

I don't think they're crazy to think that they can spend their way out of it - as long as they spend it smartly and on right players. Worst thing will be to stay irrelevant for 4-5 years & become AC Milan and lose all the "cache" so to speak. This transfer window is a perfect example. Players willing to take less salary and forcing their clubs to sell them to Barca.

Problem is it's all short termism to keep up with clubs now but selling off tv and merchandising rights in the long run will see back in the same position as you'll other clubs haven't had to sell stuff off so in the medium term you'll be back to where you are now.

suppose Laporta won't care as it'll be someone else mess to pick up at that point.

but you'll have another messi saga at some point when there's nothing left to sell off

as the la liga tv won't ever catch up with the tv deal that the premier league gets

You could be right - Barca is gambling on the success of the team. What Barca is doing is very risky - no denying that. They're betting on Xavi and the players. If they win trophies - they'll be out of this mess - if not - they'll have to go into rebuilding. Laporta did leave the club in great financial situation the first time around. So, I do have some trust in him.

Also - unlike previous two Presidents - Laporta is signing players to smaller wages - which is the main cause for current mess + Covid. He's going after players who badly want to play for Barcelona over PL teams & paying less transfer fees & wages.

Btw - top PL clubs are owned by Billionaire - who inject their own money into the club - so let's not act like they're balancing books strictly from the revenue their team generates.

Lastly - Real Madrid sold 100% of their TV rights revenue for 8 years in mid 2000s to get out of their mess. I don't think they ever went back to that mess. Barca is selling 25% for 25 years. So, we shall see.

Bankrupt Barcelona to PL teams:

Volume up.

Easily the most important signing of this window. Wow!!! Badly needed to fortify defense and they're done it by signing Christensen, Kessie & Kounde. This is probably Barcelona's greatest summer transfer window as far as I can remember.

Extended the young core of:
Fati, Pedri, Araujo, and Gavi
All extended till 2026-2027.

Took big losses but somehow finalized the permanent sale of Coutinho, Griezmann (who were on loan this past year) for $60m.

Signed CB Christensen - free transfer
Signed DM Kessie - free transfer
Re-Signed RW Dembele
Signed RW Raphinha for $55m
Signed goal-scoring machine Lewy for $45m
Signed CB Kounde for $60m

So far haven't lost anyone who was a big contributor on last years team. Really excited about the next season!
Bayern have scored 5 and 6 goals in their first two competitive games post Lewandowski

Here is what I saw I happened to tune in live midway.. Tottenham got an equalizer 1-1.. for some reason Tuchel got so tight to the Tottenham side that he's actually making physical contact with Tottenham staff.. this is child like bs imo.. you don't get so butthurt by an opponent goal that you contact their people..

Then Chelsea goes ahead 2-1.. he acts ridiculous with a silly celebration.. he may as well have been doing somersaults he was that animated it was clownish again imo..

I was hoping as a neutral, Tottenham would equalize to give him much deserved comeuppance.. and when they did predictably.. he acted a child again at the handshake.. he refused to let go the other hand.. demanded he get looked in the eyes.. umm dbag the other manager doesn't have to look anywhere and you have no right to physically restrain him by refusing to let go of his hand like a baby..

granted i got to this midway maybe i missed some stuff early..
