2021-2022 17 TIME WORLD CHAMPION Los Angeles Lakers Thread

LBJ > Jordan

Jordan 2 sons, and can't even play with them in an official game.

I liked some of the sets JJ ran in preseason but I couldn't put too much value in it knowing opposing defense is pretty vanilla in preseason. Have to say - really impressed with JJ. Great substitution patterns too and took timeouts at the right time.

It's only game 1 but pretty pretty pretty pretty good.

His personality though...he still sounds like he's on tv.

Hopefully Lakers FO gives him time to grow.

…lol and criticize Bronny - but when you are ignoring players drafted well before him who are playing worse or equally bad - it makes it seem like you're just hating. No 1 and done 55th pick is expected to play any better.

Who is Bronny outplaying in this years draft?

Since you're keeping track of all the draft picks in 2024 draft - check out - 54th pick - Anton Watson - 24 year old rookie.

Btw…following NBA since late 1980s and this is the first time I've ever looked up preseason stats for a 2nd round pick lol

He combined for 123 points. 26 point come back as well. Don't be a fascist

Same ol' sorry ass 4th quarter Suns.
Austin Reeves has taken the next step - at least as a ball handler. His passes are better and his handle is so much tighter than last year. Too early to say anything about shooting yet - but there is no question he can be a really solid secondary playmaker and at times even a primary one for smaller stretches. That's a nice development for the Lakers.

Gabe Vincent had a nice game yesterday. He'll be a key player coming off the bench for this team if he can be consistent and healthy. Can't wait for Vando to be back.

AD is a freak.

Lakers won the game in the 3rd imo. Lakers were completely dogs**t last year coming out of half time. Super early but liking what JJ is doing for half time adjustments.
More on JJ:

It's ONLY 2 games - but seriously - he looks completely opposite of Ham. So fukin' intense on the sidelines - all the time - no fukin' hands in the pocket - attention to really really small details - great timeouts - greats subs - great lineups - great roles for role players.

For example - Ham had Jaxson Hayes protecting rim on defense and playing drop coverage...giving up open mid-range shots to anyone who wanted. JJ has him playing on the perimeter on defense...and stay up bc he can really move his legs guarding forwards and contest shots off the pick.

Other teams will make adjustments when they have enough tape on what JJ likes - and that's when we will know what JJ is made up of. Good early signs.
