2021-2022 17 TIME WORLD CHAMPION Los Angeles Lakers Thread

Good
The Lakers are just so unbelievably bad. Even if they somehow pull this game out it's been such a piss poor performance again. 71% from the FT line, so many clutch FTs missed, blow another sizeable 4th quarter lead.

How did Frank Vogel keep his job? I'm not really even sure this is all his fault, I blame more management, but Vogel obviously has a role in this debacle.

This didn't age well.

How does Austin go from starting for a month to 0 minutes in a must win game? lol Vogel has lost his mind.

Players and FO aren't blameless but Vogel has completely mismanaged this team from the start. Can't believe im saying it but I wished they had fired Vogel and promoted Kidd last summer.

This season is over. I really hope whoever they hire as a new coach - they don't tell him that he can't hire his own staff. No good coach will agree to that.
woulda couda shoulda obviously the Lakers achieved their goal of the AD trade by winning it all in 2020. but i wonder what kind of team they would be now if they didnt forsake randle and ingram and ball and retained other key role players from their 2020 run.

James
Ball
Ingram
Randle
McGee/Howard

Probably could add one more high profile FA star to this group in place of westbrook.

3 pt shooting probably a weakness from the guard position hence the need to keep folks like danny green

Ya he's definitely gone. I know he didn't get a good roster, but he was terrible this year as well.

So true. Half of those games - they played with regular season energy.

There's still time.
I'd rather become a Clippers fan than watch russell westbrook play bball for another 5 seconds. That guy is so bad lol. See y'all next year, and that's only is Russ is gone.

I would be really shocked if he's still here. This was the first time in my entire time of watching the Lakers that I've watched so few games. I'm probably there with you, I will not be watching much or at all if he's still on the team next year.

It's incredible how much he regressed in one year. On top of that, his whole attitude was so piss poor all year. I can't believe this guy grew up a Laker fan.

Injuries were the biggest issue - Lebron, AD and Russ have played 21 games together - that does not include 2 games where AD got hurt, 1 game where Lebron got hurt, and 1 game where he received a flagrant 2. So, really truly - they played 17 full games together. That's not Russ's fault.

Still - Westbrook will be traded for sure. He is an expiring contract - which is far easier to trade this summer than it was at the deadline. Biggest issue is - only a few teams have cap space so Lakers will have to take on a bad contract. It's 47M - but Lakers will be able to attach THT + draft compensation (swaps in 2026 + 2028 and 1st round picks in 2027 and 2029 available) it they need to land better players in a Westbrook trade.

My last post on Westbrook - it was a disappointing season to say the least. He didn't play his hardest like he had in the past - didn't carry the team when Lebron or AD were out (which was the primary reason why he was brought in) - didn't take the leadership role on the court like he had in the past. I don't care about his outbursts with the media or being defensive in the media bc that's always been him. He wears his emotions on his sleeve and speaks from that emotion. What upset me was he didn't play with emotion on the court.

Also know that coaching staff and FO didn't optimize the team around him. But, great players figure out a way and he had a horrendous season. AD gotta be healthy next season and Lakers gotta get the right players around AD and Bron.
