Let's win some games...playing Houston twice and OKC over the next 3 games at home. Gotta win these AND look better.

shots fired at Westbrook
This team needs Ben Simmons

He has been horrendous so far with the Lakers in transition and we know Westbrook is one of the better transition players in the league. So, it's only a matter of time he (and the team) figures it out. His 3pt shot is still s**t - we knew that - he will turn the ball over - we knew that (but not at the current rate) - and he will make some bone-headed plays.

Harden, Paul George, Beal all had their best years playing next to Westbrook. I am not worried about him till there is time to worry. Give him 20 games.

I just wish he would focus on his strengths which is driving to the hoop and hitting the glass. I really don't think he makes the Lakers better when you ask him to make plays or run the offense because he lacks too much concentration and inevitably takes a bad shot and has a high TO rate.

He seemed to consciously be trying to play smarter in the last game though so that was good to see.

Those are all legit concerns and even I have those concerns. What Lakers really need from him is - when Lebron is off the court - keep those minutes somewhat even. Lakers have gotten hammered when Lebron sits last two seasons. Westbrook is here to make sure lakers don't lose those minutes badly. If he does that - he's gonna have a huge impact on the team.

My friend!

Melo gonna Melo.

Now he's averaging almost 17 a game while shooting 52% from 3 on almost 7 3s a game. Lol

Obviously these shooting numbers will come down but I won't be shocked if he hits 42-44% of 3s this year. Just a ridiculous start to the season though.

Team kind of had a let down in 4th again - and just kind of stopped playing again. Really can't wait till they get Nunn and THT back. Should be back by mid November. That'll really help the bench units. Not sure why Ellington is still out.

Well his best game was against Memphis (playoff team from last year). Also - Lebron/AD/Westbrook will draw 2 against most teams - so Melo is gonna get open looks against pretty much everyone. At that point - it's about hitting dem open shots - doesn't really matter who the opponent is.

lmao. Dude you're not this delusional right? The grizzlies are allowing 117 ppg, good for 29th in the NBA. They allowing other teams to shoot 42% from 3, also 2nd worse in the NBA. They absolutely blow on D. Actually the only thing that matters is who the opponent is, this is basketball. Carmelo against good teams who can guard perimeter will shoot us out of plenty of games, like he has been doing the past I don't know 5 years in the twilight of his career.
I don't know if Melo can keep this up, but even if he drops off a little he'll be so valuable to the team down the line.

And RW is figuring out how to work with the other stars. I still say he just needs to focus on drive and dish and just turning on the jets when the defender isn't set right for easy layups. That's all he's gotta do. Every time he pulls up out of nowhere to fire one up I'm like oh sh!t here we go. lol

Ok couple of things:
1. He's being asked to be mostly a c&s 3pt sniper. He's either never been asked to do just that OR he's never fully embraced that role - so far both seem to be true.

2. When that's your role - you'll win games for your team when you're hot and you can lose games for your team when you're not - that's not exclusive to Melo.

3. Cavs are no. 13 defense and he did the same to them. I'm just saying - he's getting open looks regardless of opponent and should get them as long as big 3 are healthy. He's never gotten this many open looks in his life and I think he can continue to be a good role player on this team. Obviously he's not gonna shoot 52% from 3 - but I can absolutely see him shoot 42% from 3.

If you're open - you're open. At that point - does the opponent matter?

Ya you'll be more open against bad defensive opponents. I don't think there much to argue there.

Bottom line this guy is atrocious on defense and doesn't give you anything in the rebounding department. 15-20 mins a game should be the absolute most once fully healthy…and deandre Jordan shouldn't even be rostered.

Agree on DeAndre Jordan. I hated that pickup. Same as Rondo. I think both are done. Rondo should be a coach.

Melo's minutes will go down once Ariza comes back. Still think he gets at least 20 minutes a game if he's hitting open 3s at a high rate. Melo has hit 40% of his 3s over the last two years with the Blazers (against good and bad teams) - and I'm quite certain he is gonna get more open looks and better passes on this team.

One thing we don't have to worry about Melo is - he isn't going to hesitate to shoot - which was the a BIG problem with last year's team.

As far as defense is consider - yes, Melo is pretty bad but Vogel can have better players around him. Putting Monk and Rondo in the same lineup as Melo is probably not the best idea as he did in couple of early games. But yea - he is a poor defender and he is not going to make proper rotations. That's why he was available for $2M.
