Jaylen was always getting that contract once he made all nba team. That's how it's set up. It's better than losing him for nothing. Celtics had only 2 options - either trade him or give him this contract. They did the right thing.

And after reading this, wow, this dude sincerely wants to make a difference, and the Celtics are going to back him. Folks were worried he might lose interest in his NBA craft because of all his off-the-court community initiatives but he seems fully committed both ways.
