FIBA refs might be more corrupt than NBA refs. international bodies like them notoriously are. see soccer and tennis.

Wut happened

They just don't seem to tolerate excessive whining. Luka b***hed about a call and instantly got his second tech and thrown out of the game. I'd love to see that in the NBA. Now they did screw up on a call for Dillon Brooks that I thought was soft but I would love to see more guys get T'ed up for b***hing about calls almost instantly; especially, after they initiate all the contact.

I'll pass if refs are intentionally not calling fouls for whatever reason.

Is that actually true or is Luka being a whiney b***h like he usually is?

You wouldn't ask this question if you've seen how sensitive FIBA refs have been. Canadian coach last week told one ref "you guys gotta be better" and the ref told him that this is the final conversation he's gonna have with the coach for rest of the game bc he used that phrase. Loool

Yea, I'd easily believe Luka or any player over these refs who get offended easily.

What's worse than players whining is talent-less refs on a power trip trying to show they're in charge.

I'd still take that over guys throwing fit after fit after fit because something doesn't go their way. The only guy that really deserves more calls is your boy Lebron because he gets hacked to pieces every game. Luka barely getting touched on the arm after his shot or Harden pouting every time he throws up a bad shot don't deserve that kinda respect. I rarely watch ball outside of Jazz games anymore because it's so nauseating. FIBA refs aren't perfect by any means but compared to NBA refs, they're probably superior about calling a fairer game overall.

Nah I'm good with that then. We don't need NBA refs to now behave like MLB umpires. Ya the b***hing is a lot times, but fans want to see these guys play. If anything start fining players, but don't kick them out of game bc they hurt your feelings.

I don't need them kicked out over hurt feelings, it just would be nice for these guys to realize that literally b***hing over every little call isn't gonna be tolerated anymore. A few times of course is fine but it gets old when it feels like its gonna happen at nearly every possession.
"These games are difficult. This is not 1992 anymore. Players are better all over the world, teams are better and it's not easy to win a World Cup or an Olympic game."

- Steve Kerr

Couldn't agree more. Can't take your C team to win these.

And Noah Lyles is silly. Top German players all play in the NBA. Best team in the World is Denver Nuggets. Call them World champions or not.
Germany is full NBA talent compared to the USA lol

A bench NBA player and a young up and comer , and then some 2 low minute guys?

stacked

The German players have all committed to playing for their country for three years so they have that continuity going for them as well.

Yup…that makes a huge difference. Plus, I don't think US team was well constructed to begin with and JJJ (and most other players) didn't care about this tournament.

Like Kerr said - this ain't 1992. Talent level around the world is exponentially better. You can't win against good international teams with Bobby Portis playing center and JJJ averaging 3 rebounds a game.

Hopefully next year in Olympics we see a real USA team:

Curry, Durant, Booker, AD, Bam, PG, Kyrie, Tatum, Ja, Dame, Myles

Even that team is just collection of talent but gap will be significant and extremely difficult to overcome.

Noah Lyles getting excited about Germany beating Austin Reaves lool
