Rip Beckenbauer. The Kaiser has passed, I grew up watching him. Truly a sad day for all the soccer fans.

Legend of legends. There's already talk about what Germany/Bayern can do to permanently honor him, such as renaming the DFB Pokal or the Allianz Arena (not sure what the sponsorship implications would be there).

Most fans either didn't know or never watched Beckenbaure play. He was a force, most skilled passer to ever touch a soccer ball. He completely dominated the midfield every time he played. He is most deserving for either arenas to be renamed after him, I hope they do.

Before my time but my dad's fav player (along with Cruyff) and he often told about him when we watched 86 & 90 WC (he was German coach). He'd often say - he is the best defender - who can also be the best mid fielder in the World and a damn good final 3rd player whenever his team needed that. He'd refer to him as the most complete player. Was talking to dad today about him and he still had excitement in his voice when talking about him.

Lost Cruyff, Diego, Pele, and Beckenbauer in a matter of few years. That's 4 of the 10 greatest players of all time gone in 6-7 years.

He actually started at the center midfield and later as he aged moved to center back. I must be about your dad's age since all the players that you mentioned were my heroes and they are all gone.I am not sure if you have seen it, but If you could, watch the 1974 final. Beckenbauer and Cruyff at their best.

Not full game but I've seen parts of that game. I've seen lot of Cruyff footage since I'm a Barca fan. Maradona was my fav growing up & I literally cried in 1990 and 1994 and acted like I was Argentine in 1986 lol.

I could listen to Cruyff talk about football all day. You can make a legitimate case that Beckenbauer & Cruyff were top 7 players of all time and top 5 coaches of all time as well. That doesn't happen very often.

what happened in their last match against Almeria needs to be investigated. No chance that referee crew including the VAR ref are honest. I've never seen anything like that before.

If Xavi & Barca manage him well - he's the heir apparent to Neymar (without the drama and antics) for them. So freaking talented.

Jurgen Klopp resigning from Liverpool at the end of the season

Basically says he's worn out and needs a break to be a normal person for a while.

Hope he gets some rest and then signs on to become the Germany National Team coach

Barca got hammered today. Xavi is done imho and I would absolutely love to get Klopp in Barca. Barca is full of really promising really young players. Doubt he wants such a pressure job if he wants to take a break but Barca needs to at least make it tough for him to say no. Offer him an offer that'll at least give him a pause.
MLS starts tonight

The problem with Barcalona, is you have ppl all over the globe, who ain't never been to Barcalona, and they think they are cool as bleep. Cuz they win. So that's all front runners, if you ask me. Like being a Yankee or Laker fan. Just my viewpoint.

Your post had nothing to do with what I posted but my viewpoint on this is:

Reason why teams like Barcelona, ManU, Bayern, Liverpool, Juve have massive following around the globe and US is bc local leagues suck and are more like WNBA or Minor League when compared to top 4 European football leagues.

If you like MLS - that's awesome. We need ppl supporting it and maybe some day MLS can be on the same level as a league in Belgium or Turkey. Messi is in MLS - so that certainly helps.
