If USA soccer has any worth they will fire Burhalter and hire Jurgen Klopp. Its a huge move and it could flop big time but I would try it because going into the world cup with this team and manager as is would be a friggin embarrassment. Pay Jurgen the $10 million he wants and give him control. See what he can do with this team.

Coaching is not the biggest problem. Lack of talent and depth is the biggest problem.
USA will always suck at soccer. It is not due to lack of athleticism, they are as athletic , if not more than most teams .

the USA doesn't have the culture to be good at soccer .

anyone reading this , will never see USA win anything significant in soccer (men's)

As long as you have a federation like USA soccer in charge of our youth development and the promotion of USMNT, they will never amount to anything. Something as simple as bringing in a high powered manager like Jurgen Klopp or Pep Guardiola cannot happen because of the stupid charter USA soccer signed with the womens squad. If the Men hire a coach for $10 million dollars then then the women get the same. The woman's suit and settlement has effectively screwed the men's teams future.

I have to agree on the culture point - and I think USA Soccer has not tried to develop any culture. USA Soccer has major issues with their ridiculous youth system - it's too expensive and players that reach the top just aren't good enough. They lack skill not athleticism.

They have taken one of the least expensive sport to play in the World - and turned it into one of the most expensive sport for parents to get their kids involved into. Most of the players that come into US soccer are kids of really well to do parents.

...and I def. don't think issue is coaching at the highest level. Pep or Klopp can't make average players elite.

Vini Jr may be the most over-rated Brazilian of all time.

I want to know what's in that magic spray they use. After the spray the dude is good as new.

It's nothing new, it's basically this kind of stuff just better

Oh no coaching is the biggest problem. Didn't have the talent and depth under Klinsmann but they could get out a group of death and beat Euro teams in friendlies. Bradley got them to beat one of the greatest teams to ever assemble.

Colombia is definitely not the most talented team in South America and yet they are riding a 25 game unbeaten streak off the backs of failing to make the 2022 world cup. Whole team didn't suddenly change or get drastically more talented. They got a real coach.

They didn't get out of group stages in Copa bc they got a red card against Panama. Had less to do with coaching. Under Klinsmann - team still wasn't good enough to overcome bad luck.

Winning a few friendlies against European teams mean nothing. Pep couldn't get this team to win anything worth a damn.

Colombian team is actually really talented. Idk the circumstances under which they failed to make the WC but I've seen them play and they've some really talented players.

Thats another problem with USA soccer. Decisions makers focus too much on results whereas in top soccer nations - decision makers give process a little more value. Focus on the right process - positive results will generally follow.

Spain - Germany was great. I think Spain is by far the best team in Europe and Germans played a great game.

Portugal - France was fun. Portugal was so good for first 60 and the France was good after that. Mbappe looked poor and Ronaldo has looked the same he looked last couple years in Europe. He's done at this level.

Argentina - Ecuador was all right. Really thought Argentina was lucky and Ecuador missed couple of easy chances late in the game. Dibu has to one the greatest penalty kick stopper in shootouts. He's ridiculously good.

Canada - Venezuela was comedy of errors and that shootout was hilarious too. Someone had to win.

That may be the number one barrier , is access to a decent infrastructure is crazy expensive .

it cuts off so many other kids , especially soccers number one fan base in the USA , Latino immigrants.

It also doesn't allow for good coaching development when its a fraternity like organization.

Red card or not there was no reason to take Reyna offer and bunker. It's cowardly managing. Berhalter and Soutgate are clearly limiting both their national teams with their mediocrity.

Colombia does have talent but because of poor managing they missed a world cup. The manager is huge.

Turkey isn't anymore talented than the USA and they are 45 minutes from a Euro semifinal. Morocco wasn't more talented either. You get results when you have a coach that has a clue. Until the USA gets that they'll will.continue to sputter

America got a red card in the copa america 2016 and still made the semifinal.

US soccer is too focused on making a profit and not focused enough on their #1 job, development. Same issue for MLS. Dallas shouldn't be the only academy producing at a high level

A lot of the issues with US are coaching. Berhalter is not the guy and southgate is a god awful coach. They are lucky they advanced today.

Way you can tell if it's the coach or not is how are the players that performed well for their clubs doing for the national team. When there is a noticeable drop off from everyone it's the manager.

Turkiye down 2-1 have had 3-4 great chances to equalize - how have they not scored here is shocking to me.
