Winning a few friendlies against European teams mean nothing. Pep couldn't get this team to win anything worth a damn.

Colombian team is actually really talented. Idk the circumstances under which they failed to make the WC but I've seen them play and they've some really talented players.

Thats another problem with USA soccer. Decisions makers focus too much on results whereas in top soccer nations - decision makers give process a little more value. Focus on the right process - positive results will generally follow.

Red card or not there was no reason to take Reyna offer and bunker. It's cowardly managing. Berhalter and Soutgate are clearly limiting both their national teams with their mediocrity.

Colombia does have talent but because of poor managing they missed a world cup. The manager is huge.

Turkey isn't anymore talented than the USA and they are 45 minutes from a Euro semifinal. Morocco wasn't more talented either. You get results when you have a coach that has a clue. Until the USA gets that they'll will.continue to sputter

America got a red card in the copa america 2016 and still made the semifinal.

Have to disagree on Turkey not being more talented than USA. Don't think it's even close. Morocco made far in the WC but it's mostly circumstantial. I doubt they'll be consistently good. They defended with 11 and scored a goal on counter. That strategy doesn't take you too far consistently.

Who are these players in the USA team that you think are world class players? Hakimi on Morocco team is the best player on the pitch if USA is playing Morocco.

Not saying coaching isn't important - they can take you a level up. Don't give me example of "flash in the pan" result at 1 or 2 tournaments. No coach can consistently win with an inferior team.

Turkey was the better team but lost. Gotta feel for them

Can't wait for Spain v. France. That'll be epic.

Dude GB has to go, you can tell by how the players talked that's he's not that loved.

We have more talent than Turkey, especially when you look at how many of our starters are playing in Europe and are also starting.

Sure we might not have a world class player, but we have plenty of good plenty players.

I don't think Turkey has any world class players either. Neither does Switzerland. But they play together with coaches who change things when things aren't working.

Greg Berhalter is Jim Tomsula. You will never get where you need to go with him.

Berhalter has installed a soft mentality and the top players like it because they aren't accountable. If you complain you get sent out in the wilderness like John Brooks did.

The best this team has looked the last 5 years was under BJ Callahan.

Federation has to fire him and take a big swing. Won't likely land Klopp but they should at least talk to him. Talk to Matarazzo. Talk to Renard.

Not advocating for him to stay on at all. Didn't like the hiring to begin with. Just saying - if ppl think replacing him with a good coach is going to make a whole lot of difference - then I don't agree with that at all.

Agree to disagree on USA being more talented than Turkey. Their domestic league is better than MLS and Calhanoglu may be the top 3 at his position. Don't think US has one play who can claim to be top 10 at their position in the World. They also have 2 youngsters who have potential to be absolute stars if groomed properly.

I also don't think USA has bunch of good players but we may have a diff opinion on what is a good player.

Ppl here think Reyna is really good - and I don't think he's anywhere close to being a good player right now.

Portugal should fire their coach. Imo they have one of the most talented team in the World along with Spain.

Uruguay is another team that should be competing for bigger things.

Brazil needs a complete makeover. They've been bad (by their standards) for over 15 years - other than winning Copa in 2019.

They were awful in Copa 2024. Just awful. Ronaldinho was 100% correct couple of weeks ago.

A real coach would have Reyna playing as a 10 and not as a defensive midfielder receiving the ball behind Robinson.

America best players aren't in MLS though so their domestic league being better isn't that relevant. Haji Wright outgrew their domestic league. Turkish league is maybe the 10th best league in the world if that.

Inter just signed Tanner Tessman. He could be coming for Calhanoglu job in a year.

Best way to know how much talent you actually have is get a coach who can get the most out of them. Not stick with Jim Tomsula.

I'm all for changing the coach - just saying - that alone isn't going to give you the results that matter.

Personally - I think more USMNT players should play in leagues other than PL. Unless you're playing for Pep or Klopp - PL has a tendency to put you in a box. Pulisic is a perfect example. He's one of the few super skilled players on our team and he flourished as soon as he left PL. Thank God he went to Serie A.

I like Tanner a lot. Idk about replacing Calhanoglu in 1 year but he's getting up in age and a young player like Tanner who can play that position worry Calhanoglu at some point. Tanner will learn a lot from him too.

Lastly - I'm not saying play quality in MLS is worse or better than Turkish league. I'm talking about development of youth talent in respective domestic league. Our players may not play in MLS today but most of them came thru that system.

No doubt the Academies in MLS are lacking. It's why the good talent needs to get out while they can and go play in Europe. Jalen Neal tops that list.

It's also why if Weston wants to come back to MLS he shouldn't be called up anymore.

I don't mind the defenders playing in the Premier League. But attacking players need to be in the other leagues. Christian should've never gone to Chelsea. Gio should stay away from Premier League too. Go play in Spain or Italy.

If USA soccer has any worth they will fire Burhalter and hire Jurgen Klopp. Its a huge move and it could flop big time but I would try it because going into the world cup with this team and manager as is would be a friggin embarrassment. Pay Jurgen the $10 million he wants and give him control. See what he can do with this team.

they never should have rehired Berhalter in the 1st place..that was the stupidest thing ever
fire his ass now and hire someone worth a damn
