I'm all for changing the coach - just saying - that alone isn't going to give you the results that matter.
Personally - I think more USMNT players should play in leagues other than PL. Unless you're playing for Pep or Klopp - PL has a tendency to put you in a box. Pulisic is a perfect example. He's one of the few super skilled players on our team and he flourished as soon as he left PL. Thank God he went to Serie A.
I like Tanner a lot. Idk about replacing Calhanoglu in 1 year but he's getting up in age and a young player like Tanner who can play that position worry Calhanoglu at some point. Tanner will learn a lot from him too.
Lastly - I'm not saying play quality in MLS is worse or better than Turkish league. I'm talking about development of youth talent in respective domestic league. Our players may not play in MLS today but most of them came thru that system.
No doubt the Academies in MLS are lacking. It's why the good talent needs to get out while they can and go play in Europe. Jalen Neal tops that list.
It's also why if Weston wants to come back to MLS he shouldn't be called up anymore.
I don't mind the defenders playing in the Premier League. But attacking players need to be in the other leagues. Christian should've never gone to Chelsea. Gio should stay away from Premier League too. Go play in Spain or Italy.
Yea...and to be honest - if the player is going to Europe in their 20s - yes, they can improve but it's too late to become one of the best players at your position. The earlier you can get to Europe - the better. You just play against better competition and you learn to play different opposition.
I think coach needs to be changed but approach to soccer needs to be changed. Should have hired Jesse Marsch after WC but that ship has sailed. I'd love Klopp - throw him the money and give him the power - but that's asking for too much for the decision makers we have. I also like Simeone - players almost always play better for him than anywhere else. Luis Enrique is another really good coach but has an abrasive personality. He's someone who will never coddle a player and will train them hard.
Personally - I don't want any US player with high potential in PL. I think 16 out of 20 teams play pretty much the same way and teams are too focused on current year than developing players. Teams are too similar and every week you're playing the same way. I don't think that's a good recipe for development.
Pulisic should have stayed at Dortmund and then gone to play for Bayern when he was ready for the big club or gone to Ath Madrid where they maximize their players.
