Hozay Aldo fractured his ribs...rumors from his camp is he is in no shape to fight and should take 3-4 weeks to heal up. Uncle Dana tweeted "relax everyone", so fight is not off as of right now. UFC brass has heavily invested in this fight so you know they gon pressure him not to pull out.

Hozay has pulled out of and postponed too many fights.

Well there was that piss test incident that happened a couple weeks ago...but he did piss again the next day. Even if he pulls out, if that test is dirty the results would likely become known and the NSAC will take action.

It's actually "Jo-zay", but whatever. I think if Aldo isn't ready to go my boy Frankie Edgar should step in for a interim shot at the title. (lol my boy)

Don't think he will be out long enough to warrant an interim title. Also doubt the UFC wants to put a wrestler in with Conor right now unless they HAVE to make an interim title fight, Too much money on the table in a potential Aldo vs McGregor fight (trends are showing it could come close to a million buys which is GSP/Brock levels of PPV buyrates whereas Aldo's fights typically due 200-300k in PPV buys) to risk Conor losing...if he gets another fight in the meantime it will likely be a favorable matchup for him. Even if Aldo tries to fight at 189, the commission could stop him from fighting now that the injury is public knowledge. As Chael said yesterday, whoever from Aldo's camp leaked that injury info is an idiot because he stood to make major money from the PPV buys (if it did sell 1 million buys he could make 3-4 million on top of his salary and sponsorship money).

UFC were expected to announce a return date for Ireland in the coming days (before the injury) and may have been targeting Frankie vs Conor for that event.

Interesting stat : In 4 years under the UFC banner, Aldo has 7 titles defenses. And has pulled out of 5 different events (UFC 125, 133,149, 153, 176) with injuries.

Would love to see Connor vs Edgar, if Connor won that then I would officially board his hype train and consider him legit as they come.

Still think he's a great fighter, but imho his game hasn't been tested in all areas to consider him Top 3. A win against Aldo, mendes or Edgar would solidify his status.

Aldo has an appt with his doctor tomorrow and we should know whether or not he fights on July 11th or not. One potential rumored back up plan the UFC is strongly considering to save the card via Ariel Helwani is that Conor fights Nate Diaz at 155 in the co main with Rory vs Robbie in the main event. Apparently both Conor and Nate are cool with this idea.

That would still be an entertaining fight. But man such a bummer if aldo is out
