Right now everyone and their momma knows that WM will be either Becky or Charlotte vs Ronda or a triple threat, so it makes the most sense to build to the final 2 in the Royal Rumble being the Man vs the Woo-Man. Fans will be heavily invested in those final moments and they could always drag it out further by having both women winning only for it to not be good enough for either setting up Becky vs Charlotte at Fast Lane to decide to who goes to WM to challenge Ronda.

He got hurt and had to take time off. I think it was a back injury but during the summer he was thanking a ton of people on twitter and has become a producer backstage. He may still give it a go but those two have given their bodies hell. I kinda hope he's done.
