Smart on Vince's part...

It has been reported that WWE made a last minute and surprise decision to go with USA over FOX for NXT to the point where FOX had even told some of their affiliate stations to expect the show on FS1. However, the main aspect of bringing NXT to live TV on Wednesday was to counter AEW and one of the key points for Vince McMahon was that FS1 was available in significantly less homes than TNT, putting NXT behind AEW from the get go.

-- According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, this was something McMahon "couldn't stand for" in what in his mind is a wrestling war. Vince reportedly noted internally to people that with wrestling fans "conditioned" to watch WWE on USA, plus being on the stronger station, it outweighed any advantage of going with FS1.

In a few weeks....
