WWE working with Impact now.

They have before, Vince sent Christian to Impact for an appearance at BFG some 10 years ago and got Ric Flair from Impact for an appearance on the HoF ceremony.

It is likely a one off deal here and nobody is certain atm if Mickie is under an annual contract or a PPA deal with Impact.

The only reason I can see WWE signing MJF is to get him away from AEW, they won't use him right, Vince hates small guys, he loves big, muscular, non athletic big guys.

Ehh I think his mic skill is good enough to get an initial push and short run near or at the top of the card as a chicken s**t heel. But within a year or so he would be relegated to the mid card with the now and again upper mid card fued.

His size though would ultimately be his downfall in the WWE.
