The Rams haven't been much better, as, after a promising 4-5 start, they've endured a brutal losing streak of their own, having lost five consecutive games entering this weekend's divisional tilt. Not only that, Los Angeles also saw head coach Jeff Fisher get the ax last week, and in his place is interim coach John Fassel, who was unable to snap the team's losing woes in his coaching debut last Thursday against the first-place Seahawks.
Although both clubs occupy the bottom two spots in the NFC West Division, tickets to see the 49ers and Rams square off for the second and final time in '16 are registering modest prices on the secondary market, according to data provided by TicketIQ. Currently, tickets are averaging a shade over $175, while the get-in price is registering as high as $55.
Perhaps that has something to do with the fact that the Rams will have their best chance at ending their current losing streak, so Los Angeles fans may be extra tempted to potentially catch a rare bright moment for the franchise in their first year back in the city. On the contrary, this game also presents a solid opportunity for San Francisco to snap their own stretch of misery, in seeking their second win of the season.
In their Week 1 meeting, the 49ers embarrassed the Rams, 28-0, at Levi's Stadium. Carlos Hyde rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns in the victory, while Todd Gurley was limited to just 47 yards on 17 carries for the Rams. This was also notable because it was the organization's first game since moving back to Los Angeles for the first time since the 90's. It also happened to start San Francisco's campaign off on the right foot, before things went terribly wrong for the Niners.
It's a shame one of these two clubs will see their losing streaks continue after this holiday weekend, and with each having tough matchups in the Week 17 finale, this is realistically their last shot at a victory before the year comes to an end. The 49ers will be hoping quarterback Colin Kaepernick is able to get back on track, after not topping 200 passing yards in each of the last three weeks. His potential re-emergence could be the difference in San Francisco notching their second win of the season.
