Cornerback Jason Verrett and defensive end Kerry Hyder, both 29, are seven-year NFL veterans who entered the 2020 season as backups after signing modest one-year contracts with the 49ers. The similarities don't stop there. Both were shoved into starting roles because of early season injuries and they responded with career-best years. Now, Verrett and Hyder will share this in the offseason: Both will receive big pay raises.
