Wide receiver Marquise Goodwin reverting back to the San Francisco 49ers from the Philadelphia Eagles will have at least one impact on the Bay Area team. The Niners are losing a seventh-round pick in the upcoming draft because of it.
Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reported the news. San Francisco is now left with nine total draft picks.
Per terms of the Marquise Goodwin-to-#Eagles trade last year, Goodwin reverts back to the #49ers, the NFL announced Tuesday.
The 49ers must send the Eagles their original seventh-round pick this year. S.F. now has nine draft picks.
Goodwin reverted to the 49ers because of the terms of last year's trade, and the receiver opting out of the 2020 season due to concerns surrounding COVID-19. San Francisco and Philadelphia initially swapped sixth-round picks in last year's draft as part of the trade.
Goodwin is not expected to remain on the 49ers roster. The team can release him without a penalty. However, this new development has to be a disappointment for the organization, despite the lost selection being a low one.
