According to TMZ Sports, San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Kevin Givens was arrested and faces a charge of misdemeanor second-degree assault. The incident allegedly took place on February 21 at the Sheraton Hotel in Maryland.
"The San Francisco 49ers organization is aware of the media report regarding Kevin Givens," the team said via a statement. "We are gathering the relevant facts of this matter and will continue to monitor the situation."
According to the court documents, which were obtained by TMZ Sports, the alleged victim, Hayden Bosley, claims the incident with the 49ers defensive lineman started when he, Givens' girlfriend, and another individual were looking to take an Uber or Lyft ride and asked if Givens was accompanying them. The three left for the hotel when Givens became angry with them.
The alleged confrontation took place at the hotel when Givens arrived and attacked Bosley in a hallway.
"Bosley claims Givens tackled him to the ground, dislocated his shoulder and continued to wrestle with him," wrote TMZ Sports. "Bosley says he was able to escape and run away ... but claims he ended up suffering a black eye, bruises, cuts and scrapes in addition to the shoulder injury in the altercation."
If convicted, Givens could be facing up to 10 years in prison.
San Francisco signed Givens as an undrafted free agent out of Penn State in 2019. He registered 19 tackles, a sack, and a pass defensed through 13 games with the 49ers in 2020.
