On Tuesday morning, news broke that San Francisco 49ers defensive end Charles Omenihu had been arrested in San Jose following allegations of domestic violence. The 25-year-old player was booked at the Santa Clara County jail and released after posting bail.

"We are aware of the matter involving Charles Omenihu and are in the process of gathering further information," the 49ers said via a statement issued by the team.

On Wednesday, the NFL released its own statement ahead of this weekend's NFC Championship Game between the 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles.

"The matter will be reviewed under the league's personal conduct policy. There is no change to his status," the statement read.

That means that nothing will immediately change for Omenihu regarding his roster status and availability for Sunday's game. The defensive end will likely be suited up at Lincoln Financial Field.

On Wednesday, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters for the first time since the arrest and was asked if there was any concern about playing Omenihu against the Eagles.

"We've looked into it for the last 24 hours or 48 hours," Shanahan said. "Not necessarily myself, but other people. We feel very good letting that legal process take care of itself, and don't feel we should kick him off of our team at this time."

Omenihu will practice with his teammates on Wednesday. Although, he will be a limited participant as he is dealing with an oblique strain.
