It sounds like Kyle Shanahan is eager to move on from the San Francisco 49ers' quarterback drama over the last few years. Or he's at least ready to move on from discussing it. One of his former starting quarterbacks, Jimmy Garoppolo, made some comments this week that didn't reflect well on the organization.

In a conversation with Robin Lundberg of Sports Illustrated, the now-Las Vegas Raiders quarterback was asked about the 49ers' decision to trade former No. 3 overall pick Trey Lance to the Dallas Cowboys.

"Weird situation," Garoppolo said. "Been a lot of weird situations over there in San Francisco. I'll just leave it at that."

When Lundberg called the quarterback situation in Santa Clara over the last few years "messy," Garoppolo responded, "That's a nice way to put it."

On Wednesday, Shanahan had a chance to share his thoughts on the comments.

"I try not to pay attention [to comments] outside of here," a somewhat defensive Shanahan told reporters. "I try to deal with the people in here that I have to deal with, and I have felt very good about that."

Shanahan watched Lance's press conference with Dallas-area reporters on Tuesday and remains happy for the third-year quarterback.

"He did seem genuinely kind of happy, and I feel he's in a good position to move on and do better there," Shanahan noted.

And what about Garoppolo's comments? How does that reflect on the 49ers' decision-making during Shanahan's tenure as head coach?

"Jimmy, the comments are the comments," Shanahan said. "I'm really not concerned about his comments. ... I think anytime you trade up to the third pick in the draft and it doesn't work out, that's the 'weird situation.' But that is the situation. So that's what happened. I don't think it's that weird. It's unusual that doesn't work out, but I wouldn't think that's weird. I think that's unusual."
