The San Francisco 49ers have announced the following roster moves ahead of their game on Sunday versus the Washington Commanders.
Safety Erik Harris and wide receiver Tay Martin are both being elevated to the active roster from the team's practice squad (standard elevations). Both players will fill spots at which the 49ers will be light on Sunday.
Harris, an eight-year veteran, has been active for two other games this season. He has only played on special teams in 2023. With Ji'Ayir Brown out, the 49ers need an extra safety on gameday. Before Brown, the team had already suffered injuries to safeties Talanoa Hufanga and George Odom.
Martin, a 2022 undrafted free agent, is being promoted for the first time this season. The 49ers will be without wide receiver Jauan Jennings and will need an extra body at the position. Willie Snead was elevated last week, but on Saturday, the 49ers chose to bring up Martin over Snead.
On Wednesday, the 49ers opened the practice window for wide receiver Danny Gray. He has been out all year with a shoulder injury. There was some thought that Gray might be added to the active roster this week, but that did not happen, as Gray was downgraded from questionable to out for Sunday's game.
Also on Wednesday, the 49ers signed DL Sebastian Joseph-Day and OL Matt Pryor to one-year deals. Both players will be active on Sunday.
