The full 2024 NFL schedule is set for release tomorrow night. However, the NFL has given fans a sneak peek by unveiling the opener for the San Francisco 49ers. The Bay Area team will host quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets at Levi's Stadium on Monday, September 9, at 5:20 p.m. PT. The game will air on ABC, ESPN, ESPN+, and ESPN Deportes.

It is the first time San Francisco has opened the season at home since 2020, when they opened against the Arizona Cardinals. The 2020 season was also the last time the Jets faced the 49ers. San Francisco won that contest 31-13.
The 49ers are coming off a Super Bowl defeat, while the Jets missed the playoffs, finishing their 2023 campaign with a 7-10 record. The game also marks a reunion between Jets head coach Robert Saleh and his former boss, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan. Saleh served as San Francisco's defensive coordinator from 2017 through 2020 before landing his job with the Jets.
