According to Ryan Clark and as reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is meeting with the San Francisco 49ers today.

This meeting is noteworthy as Aiyuk and the 49ers have been at a standoff over contract extension negotiations. The receiver opted not to attend the team's mandatory minicamp earlier this month, which closed out the offseason program. 49ers players are on a break until training camp begins on July 23.

Aiyuk is currently scheduled to earn $14.124 million on a team-exercised fifth-year option, well below the market value for top NFL receivers. It is believed that Aiyuk seeks a deal that will pay closer to $30 million annually.

Michael Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle recently reported that the 49ers' last offer to Aiyuk was in the range of $26 million annually.

According to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, Aiyuk has taken the negotiations and recent offers "personal." While he wants to stay in the Bay Area, he is comfortable playing elsewhere if necessary.

"I'm trying to get what I deserve," Aiyuk said in March. "... We got professionals working on both sides, so hopefully, we can come to a professional agreement to continue playing professional football."

San Francisco drafted Aiyuk (6-0, 200) out of Arizona State with the No. 25 overall pick in 2020. In 16 starts with the 49ers last season, he recorded 75 receptions for a career-high and team-leading 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns, according to Pro Football Reference.

With 1,015 receiving yards in 2022, Aiyuk has surpassed the 1,000-yard receiving mark in two consecutive seasons, becoming the first 49ers wide receiver to do so since Anquan Boldin in 2013 and 2014. He is also the first 49ers player to accomplish the feat since tight end George Kittle in 2018 and 2019.

Earlier this month, Aiyuk made headlines by posting a video of a conversation with Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, a former Arizona State teammate, saying, "They said they don't want me back ... I swear."

This meeting between the 49ers and Aiyuk might suggest otherwise.
