49ers camp takeaways: Offense sharp; Odum makes most of opportunities

SANTA CLARA — The 49ers opened up their third block of training camp practices on Friday with a packed house of fans. Brock Purdy had a second straight practice without an interception during the session, which Kyle Shanahan deemed a little bit shorter than what is to come. The plan is to have a higher count of team reps on Saturday as they ramp up slowly towards the regular season. Nick Bosa and Christian McCaffrey both took veteran rest days and were not seen on the field. Jauan Jennings participated in individual drills but the head coach shared that the wideout was dealing with a minor ankle injury and should return soon. Logan Thomas was sidelined due to a hamstring injury. Jon Feliciano was back in the mix on the offensive line but worked in only during a few series of offensive plays. Aaron Banks was sidelined due to back spasms while Spencer Burford remained sidelined with a broken hand. Shanahan gave the update that Burford will not need surgery but will still miss a few weeks because of the injury. Here are five updates from Day 8 of 49ers training camp.
