The San Francisco 49ers have started their 53-player roster cut-down. Below is a list of the players who are reportedly being let go by the 49ers or being placed on injury lists to start the season. It will be updated as roster moves are reported. The 49ers have until Tuesday, August 27, at 1 p.m. PT to reduce their roster from 90 players to 53.

The first-known source of the news is listed next to each player's name. If no source is noted, the move was initially reported by the 49ers.

Wednesday, August 28:
Waiver wire claims end; practice squads
The claiming period for players placed on waivers during roster cutdowns ends at 9:00 a.m. PT. After this time, and upon notification from the league, teams can begin forming their 17-player practice squads. Additionally, starting at 1:00 p.m. PT, any player placed on the injured reserve or reserve/non-football injury lists may be designated for return later in the season.

Monday, September 9:
New York Jets at San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers will host the Jets at Levi's Stadium in the final game of Week 1. This matchup marks the official start of the regular season for the 49ers, kicking off their 2024 campaign.
