According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the San Francisco 49ers are signing former Carolina Panthers wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. to the practice squad.

Initially interpreted as a signing to the active roster, Matt Barrows of The Athletic clarified that this was a practice squad move and not a 53-man roster move.

The Carolina Panthers selected Marshall (6-2, 200 lbs) out of LSU in the second round (No. 59 overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Last season, Marshall recorded 19 receptions for 139 yards on 33 targets across nine game appearances (four starts) with the Panthers, playing 55 percent of the offensive snaps, according to Pro Football Reference. He was inactive for seven of the final eight games.
Marshall, 24, has caught 64 passes for 767 yards and a touchdown in 36 game appearances (16 starts) over his three NFL seasons. His best season came in 2022 when he recorded 28 catches for 490 yards and a touchdown on 47 targets.
