On Sunday, the San Francisco 49ers shared more encouraging news about Ricky Pearsall, announcing that the wide receiver had been released from San Francisco General Hospital.

"San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was released from the hospital this afternoon as he continues to recover from a bullet wound to his chest," the team said via a statement.

"He and his family, along with the entire San Francisco 49ers organization, would like to thank the San Francisco Police Department, emergency medical services, doctors and staff at San Francisco General Hospital."

Earlier in the day, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reported that Pearsall's condition had been upgraded to "fair," indicating positive progress after being shot in the chest on Saturday during an attempted robbery.

Both Pearsall and the suspect, who was also shot during the altercation, spent the night at San Francisco General Hospital. Initially, Pearsall was listed as "in serious but stable condition," according to the 49ers.

On Sunday morning, Pearsall's mother, Erin Pearsall, shared an update on Facebook: "First and far most I want to thank GOD for protecting my baby boy. He is extremely lucky, GOD shielded him. He was shot in the chest and it exited out his back. Thanks be to GOD it missed his vital organs. He is in good spirits right now."
