The San Francisco 49ers have released the list of inactive players for their Week 1 matchup against the New York Jets. These seven players will not suit up for the game.
Inactives:
- OL Ben Bartch
- QB Joshua Dobbs
- DE Yetur Gross-Matos (knee)
- S Talanoa Hufanga (knee)
- CB Darrell Luter
- RB Christian McCaffrey (calf, Achilles)
- LB Dee Winters (ankle)
On Saturday, the 49ers ruled out Gross-Matos and Winters for the game against the Jets. Hufanga was listed as doubtful, while guard Aaron Banks (finger) and running back McCaffrey were listed as questionable. Banks is active, while McCaffrey is not.
McCaffrey has been working his way back from calf and Achilles injuries that sidelined him for most of training camp and the entire preseason. His inactive status is a surprise, especially after he seemingly expressed confidence on Friday that he would play against the Jets. When asked if there was any doubt in his mind about his Week 1 availability, McCaffrey simply replied, "Nope."
Just hours before kickoff, the 49ers activated tackle Trent Williams to the active roster. The team had a roster exemption for Williams after he ended his holdout and reported following the signing of a restructured contract.

To clear space, San Francisco released offensive lineman Brandon Parker.
Additionally, the 49ers elevated defensive end Sam Okuayinonu and safety Tracy Walker from the practice squad, making them available for the game against the Jets. Both will return to the practice squad on Tuesday.
