The San Francisco 49ers came out of their Week 1 victory over the New York Jets without any significant injuries. During a Tuesday morning conference call, head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters that the only injuries were the ones mentioned in his post-game press conference.

Wide receiver Jauan Jennings is day-to-day with an ankle injury, while guard Aaron Banks is day-to-day with a calf contusion.

Christian McCaffrey sat out Monday night due to calf and Achilles issues. Shanahan clarified that the running back would have played if it had been a playoff game. He added that McCaffrey's Achilles issue is tendinitis, and the player is considered day-to-day.

"I believed if it was a playoff game, he would have played," Shanahan said. "But it's not just the calf, it's the Achilles, and the Achilles is tendinitis, and that stuff comes and goes. And when it is acting up, it's something you got to be very careful about. Christian is very diligent about that stuff, and if it was a playoff game, he made it very clear to me that he believed he could go.

"But when you hear that type of stuff, and it's not a playoff game, and it's Week 1, and especially when you're dealing with the lower extremities like that, it was a tough decision, but hearing all the words and stuff, in the long run, it made it easy."

This week, the 49ers will begin preparations for their Week 2 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.

Additionally, Shanahan mentioned that safety Talanoa Hufanga, returning from an ACL injury last season, will continue to work his way back in practice and has a chance to play against the Vikings.

"We won't make that decision until later in the week, so hopefully he has another good week," Shanahan commented.

The coach also indicated that defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos and linebacker Dee Winters might return to practice this week.

"They've got a big day today, just seeing how they go," Shanahan said. "There's a chance they can get back into practice this week, but really not sure until they do the rehab this afternoon."
