The San Francisco 49ers have signed defensive lineman Nesta Jade Silvera to the practice squad. To make room on the practice squad, the team released defensive lineman Jonathan Garvin.
The 49ers Communications staff provided the following rundown.
Silvera (6-2, 315) was originally drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders in the seventh round (231st overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft. Throughout his two-year career, he has appeared in nine games with the Raiders (2023-24), where he has registered 10 tackles. In 2024 with Las Vegas, Silvera appeared in seven games and totaled eight tackles prior to being waived by the team on October 21, 2024.
A 24-year-old native of Pembroke Pines, FL, Silvera attended the University of Miami for four seasons (2018-21) before transferring to Arizona State University for one season (2022). Throughout his college career, he appeared in 53 games (28 starts) and registered 161 tackles, 20.5 tackles for loss, four passes defensed, 3.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles.
Garvin (6-4, 257) originally signed to the team's practice squad on August 9, 2024.
