Samuel was limited to just four snaps last week against the Kansas City Chiefs due to illness. After the game, he was hospitalized with pneumonia. He was later released on Tuesday and rejoined his teammates on Wednesday.
Neither Samuel nor Kittle practiced on Wednesday, but both were limited participants on Thursday and Friday.
Samuel described the frightening experience after Friday's practice.
"Honestly, like, I really couldn't breathe, for real," Samuel told reporters. "And I didn't really know what was wrong until after the game."
He began to suspect something was seriously wrong during warmups.
"I had no energy to run or anything for a while," Samuel shared. "And then I came in, and we tried to do a lot of IVs ... but gladly, we found it right after the game, and then everything else as well.
"It was scary because it's kind of hard to breathe, for real, and you can't take deep breaths. So, in the midst of that, I'm just like, 'What's going on?' And then we found out what was wrong after the game."
This season, Samuel has recorded 20 receptions for 335 yards and a touchdown, along with 19 carries for 51 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown. Meanwhile, Kittle has registered 34 receptions for 375 yards and five touchdowns.
Cornerback Deommodore Lenoir (illness) and safety George Odum (knee) are also questionable for Sunday night. Defensive tackle Kevin Givens (groin), wide receiver Jauan Jennings (hip), and kicker Jake Moody (right ankle) have been ruled out.
