San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke to reporters during a Monday conference call, providing key injury updates the day after the team's 20-17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
Brock Purdy
Quarterback Brock Purdy is dealing with right shoulder soreness after taking a hit during Sunday's game. Shanahan didn't sound overly concerned, describing Purdy as day-to-day as the team begins preparing for the Green Bay Packers.
Shanahan added that the soreness was from a hit Purdy took during the game. However, the coach wasn't sure exactly when it occurred, adding that he doesn't believe the injury impacted Purdy's performance.
Nick Bosa
Defensive end Nick Bosa sustained a hip/oblique injury against the Seahawks. After the game, Shanahan clarified that this injury is unrelated to the one Bosa struggled to play through against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
"We'll evaluate him throughout the week," Shanahan said.
The coach stated there is a chance Bosa can play on Sunday against the Packers, saying, "We'll see how it goes this week. Just as good of a chance for him not to play as play. But unless it's an injury that you know has him knocked out, you always can rule that out early. But when it's not that case, you don't decide those things on Mondays."
George Kittle
Tight end George Kittle missed Sunday's game due to a hamstring injury but is expected to return to practice this week.
"I know it was close yesterday, so I think he should be good for practice on Wednesday," Shanahan noted.
Trent Williams
Tackle Trent Williams reported soreness on Monday after battling through Sunday's game with an ankle injury.
"Just talking to him, the Toradol is wearing off and things like that, which is pretty painful, but we'll see how he comes in Wednesday," Shanahan said, referring to the pain relief Williams used to play. "But I know he battled to play in that game, and really appreciate him getting through it and out there, and we'll see how he recovers here going into Wednesday."
Other injuries
Wide receiver Jacob Cowing is in the concussion protocol after a first-half head injury against the Seahawks.
Linebacker Tatum Bethune suffered an MCL sprain and will miss some time.
Charvarius Ward
Cornerback Charvarius Ward rejoined the team after being away due to the tragic passing of his daughter following the Week 8 game against the Dallas Cowboys.
"He was at our team meeting today," Shanahan said. "He was at the game yesterday. He did some workouts here over the weekend with Dustin Perry, our strength and conditioning coach, and we'll see how this week goes with him."
Dre Greenlaw may practice next week
Linebacker Dre Greenlaw continues to recover from the torn Achilles he suffered in February during the Super Bowl. Shanahan confirmed that Greenlaw will not have his practice window opened this week.
"He's doing his mock practices on his own, without players, and hope we'll get him back in practice next week," Shanahan said.
