Several reporters noted that San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy was not on the field during the media-accessible portion of Friday's practice. However, this doesn't necessarily mean Purdy won't participate later, as the media is permitted to observe only a small segment at the beginning of practice.

Purdy has been managing a shoulder injury sustained during Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks. The team listed him as a limited participant in practice on both Wednesday and Thursday. However, he did not throw on Wednesday and performed only light throws on Thursday before leaving for treatment on his sore shoulder.

Other notable absences on Friday included defensive end Nick Bosa and tackle Trent Williams. Bosa is dealing with hip and oblique injuries, while Williams continues to battle an ankle issue. Both players are expected to be game-time decisions.

On Friday morning, general manager John Lynch revealed that Purdy underwent an MRI earlier this week.
"We feel good about where it's at from that standpoint," Lynch stated. "But still, you have to be able to go out and operate. And so, we're kind of figuring all that out. Brock's going to show up here today, and we'll see where he can go in terms of practice, and we'll make some decisions accordingly."
The 49ers are gearing up for a playoff rematch against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field this weekend. Should Purdy be unable to play, veteran quarterback Brandon Allen will make his first start since the 2021 season and debut as a San Francisco starter.
