San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters via a conference call on Monday, providing several injury updates following the team's 38-10 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Quarterback Brock Purdy engaged in light throwing on Monday morning, a positive step in his recovery from the shoulder injury that left him inactive on Sunday.

"It went all good," Shanahan shared. "We didn't push it that hard, but he did some light throwing, which was a good sign that the pain hadn't come back, and we'll rest it tomorrow and see how he feels as the week goes."

Shanahan confirmed reports of Purdy undergoing a second MRI last week.

"Most guys, we always get more than one when you get one, and it seems all right, then you have some pain later in the week," Shanahan explained. "So, you get another one to make sure you didn't miss anything. And so, that's what he did, I think, after the Thursday practice."

The coach recapped Purdy's injury timeline, noting that while rest over the weekend showed improvement, the team remains cautious.

"We got the MRI last week, his shoulder was bothering him," Shanahan said. "We thought it would be all right by Thursday, and it hurt worse Thursday than it did earlier in the week. So we rested it throughout the weekend, hoping that would help. He threw lighter today to see if that rest helps, and the rest did help him.

"So we'll see again, going through the same things we did last week. We're going to let him rest all the way up to Wednesday. We'll see how it feels on Wednesday, and then we'll take the exact same course throughout the week, and hopefully, it responds better this week than it did last week with the rest."

Jon Feliciano to stay on IR

Shanahan announced that offensive lineman Jon Feliciano will remain on injured reserve due to ongoing knee issues. The team had until Monday to activate him off of injured reserve.

"The knee hasn't responded the right way," Shanahan said. "So, unfortunately for Jon and us—just had a talk with him here a little bit ago—he's going to have to stay on IR."

Injury updates from Packers game

Shanahan provided a rundown of injuries sustained during Sunday's game. Offensive lineman Aaron Banks and defensive tackle Jordan Elliott are in the concussion protocol. Cornerback Renardo Green injured his neck and is day-to-day. Linebacker Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles is also day-to-day due to a knee injury.

Offensive lineman Dominick Puni emerged from the Week 12 contest with a shoulder injury and cornerback Deommodore Lenoir is dealing with a knee issue. The team awaits MRI results for Puni and Lenoir to assess the severity of their injuries.

Dre Greenlaw set to practice

The 49ers plan to open linebacker Dre Greenlaw's practice window this week as he works his way back from the torn Achilles suffered in February.

"He could be able to start practicing on Wednesday," Shanahan revealed.

Once Greenlaw's practice window is opened, the 49ers will have 21 days to add him to the active roster.

Nick Bosa and Trent Williams

Shanahan didn't provide significant injury updates on defensive end Nick Bosa (hip/oblique) or tackle Trent Williams (ankle). Both missed Sunday's game.

"We'll evaluate as this week progresses, and hopefully, it turns a better corner than it did last week," Shanahan stated.

Other injury updates

Wide receiver Jacob Cowing remains in the concussion protocol. Defensive tackle Kevin Givens could return to practice this week as he recovers from a groin injury.
